Travel Shanghai

Happy Thursday!I hope all of you having a great week!:)

In April first time in my life I visited Shanghai which is China's largest city. Shanghai is a huge modern, international metropolis with a lots of history. Not surprising that It is drawing more and more attention from all over the world. Plus Shanghai is the biggest economic and trade center in China. If you travel to Shanghai you can easily experience the past and the present. By walking in the city you can see and feel Shanghai's colonial past.

Shanghai Activities

Parks

In Shanghai, alongside skyscrapers, you will find wonderful green groves where you can relax. I was very happy to see the beautiful cherry blossom at People’s Park. I recommend you If you plan to visit in Spring go and see! Shanghai has lots of beautiful parks where you can enjoy the green nature next to the concrete jungle.

Chenghuang Temple

And Market

The Chenghuan Temple or in English City God Temple is a Taoist temple and one of the must see thing in Shanghai. It was built in the fifteenth century during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). It can get quite busy but definitely worth to see. Unique and beautiful full of details plus more than 600 years old. The whole area is very beautiful. I felt like I was on a time trip back to few hundreds years and I was part of the history of Shanghai. I could imagine how people lived there during those times.

This old town is filled with shops and restaurants. You can have the chance to taste local food and buy souvenirs or Chinese products like high quality silk scarf or organic tea. Some stores are very beautiful . By seeing this part of the city you can get to know more the Chinese culture.

Yu yuan Garden

The Yu Garden also the place what you have to see in Shanghai. Unfortunately when I visited It was very crowded and rainy. I wasn’t lucky but still worth to see because even If the weather was ugly the garden was still beautiful. The Yu Garden build with classical Chinese architecture and It was private garden of the Pan family in the Ming Dynasty.

The Bund, Waitan

The Bund is the tourist center of Shanghai. This area is mixed with historical western buildings and the modern skyscrapers. From here you can go on a trip with a sightseeing ship or just walk by the side of the river and enjoy the amazing sight of Shangai. This part of the city probably is the best because this is Shanghai’s signature landmark and the whole view is beautiful and from here you can feel the energy of the city.

At Waitan/Bund If you go to a restaurant or a bar which is placed in one of the skyscraper you will not be disappointed because the view is amazing from any part of the Bund.

French Concession

Tianzifang

This part of Shanghai was once a foreign concession under French possession from 1849 to 1943. Tianzifang made up of traditional alleys and Shikumen homes. This area is full with small shops, cafes, restaurants and unique boutiques. You can find here nice souvenirs and interesting products made by locals. Tianzifang is a very artistic place with lots of small businesses.

Xintiandi

The fashionable part of Shanghai

Xintiandi is located in the middle of Shanghai and this is like Tianzifang Shanghai’s French Quarter just this area is more about trendy/fancy stores, restaurants, cafes. You can do here extravagant shopping. While Tianzifang is more artistic, hipster. There is so much to do and see in this neighborhood.

You can visit Xintiandi during the night or daytime. You will enjoy for sure. During the day you can see the traditional Shikumen-the city’s residential architecture. During the night you will have the chance to jump in to the sparkling nightlife of Shanghai.

Jing’an Temple

The temple of Peace and Tranquility

The Jing’an Temple is impressive and very beautiful. Quite and peaceful place in the middle of crowded Shanghai. Easy to reach by metro, the metro station name is the same as the temple name so for sure you will not miss it. I really liked all the details of the Jing’an Temple. When I visited it was not crowded so I really enjoyed my tour.

Ohhh.. One more thing! My ADVICE!! Don’t take taxi in China If you don’t speak Chinese! 😅 Trust me the driver will not understand you in English and you will end up in a totally different place where you supposed to go. 🙈
